Sexual Health in Clinical Care- PLISSIT Model

Presented by: Jennifer Wiessner LCSW, CSTAASECT Certified Sex Therapist- Couples therapist

This workshop will cover the PLISSIT model of sex therapy, a model to empower clinicians to open up conversations with their clients about sexuality and sexual health. The model by Jack Annon from 1974 and an overview of the model that grew from the original model, (EX-PLISSIT model) will be explored. Participants will be given examples and how it can help you in your practice. Time will be given to ask questions and discuss.

About the presenter:

Jennifer Wiessner, LCSW, CST (She/Her) is a licensed clinical social worker, AASECT certified sex therapist, sex educator, presenter, mom and partner in Cumberland, Maine. In 2012 she was the only female sex therapist in the state of Maine (now there are 4 in total!). She was also the only therapist in the inaugural class of Sexual Health Scholars Program for American Medical Association medical students in 2010.Jennifer has a private therapy practice and sees couples, groups and adult individuals and creates and facilitates Raising Sexually Healthy Children workshops across the state to educate parents on why talking to their kids and teens about sexuality is a healthy and normal part of life. Jennifer also creates sexual health workshops and consults with parents, medical students, nurses, teachers, physicians, schools, camps, churches, professionals and therapists on sexual health. She is currently enrolled in The Incarnation Institute’s Sex and Faith certification program to address sexual negativity in Christian faiths in order to assist clients and clergy to discern for themselves new, healthy, sex-positive faith-based narratives.
