NASW ME Diversity Discussion

Tuesday December 8th at 8 AM

60 min zoom

Host: Brandy Brown, President NASW ME Board of Directors; Chair, NASW ME LGBTQ+ Advocacy Committee

REGISTER

NASW Maine Chapter has been engaging in dialogue and training in areas of diversity for a long time- this has notably shifted in 2020, influenced by the Black Lives Matter movement. As we consider our diversity related goals, it is important to provide a framework for ongoing discussion in this work. NASW ME has committees focused on different areas (ethics, continuing education, etc.); the committee that has been most related to diversity has been the LGBTQ+ Advocacy committee.

This discussion is for:

  • Members who have been part of the LGBTQ+ Advocacy committee, now or in the past
  • Members who are currently engaged in diversity related advocacy and education
  • Members who have been involved in recent discussions about antiracist practice
  • Members who have been part of the LGBTQ+ Advocacy committee, now or in the past
  • Members who have felt that NASW ME should focus more on diversity related issues
  • Members who are looking to get involved in diversity related practice, education, and advocacy

This meeting is to help understand the need, assess interest around member involvement, and understand what kind of framework we can create for NASW ME to help meet our diversity goals.
