How to Develop an Effective Antiracist Lens Within your Clinical Practice

Webinar

NASWME Chapter 0 955
A live webinar - 2 CEUs - for social workers and allied professionals

About this Event

How to Develop an Effective Antiracist Lens Within your Clinical Practice.

Presenter: Keita Annie Whitten Foster BSW, MSW LCSW, SEP

Founder: Ready, Set THrive!, The Harriet Tubman Movement Coalition of Maine, and Community Dialogues on Racism as a Public Health Crisis in the Midst of COVID-19

2 Clinical Contact Hours approved by NASW Maine

Social workers and allied professionals are invigorated by the groundswell and focus on antiracism. However, within a clinical practice, managing the uncertainty, shame and conflict within our clients while simultaneously managing our own, can be challenging. This workshop will provide clinicians with tools to identify, embrace, and work through transference and counter transference when working with POC clients, families and communities as White and POC practitioners.

Prior to the workshop, please watch this free E- course to help set the stage

Learning objectives

Participants will be able to:

  • Identify racialized emotional fragility within your body
  • Working outside your comfort zone: Recognize your limitations without shame and how to move through it.
  • Identify, embrace, and work through transference and counter transference as a necessary space for building trust working with POC clients, families and communities as White and POC practitioners.
